Vent is situated at 1900 m above sea level. The mountain farmsteads at Rofen at 2014m elevation are the highest situated permanent residence in the eastern Alps.
The 46 m long suspension bridge that stretches over the 30 m deep „Rofen Canyon“ is close to Rofen.
The surrounding mountain landscape of Vent with various 3000 m summits is specially characterised by the Wildspitze - the highest mountain of Tyrol with 3.774m.
The legendary discovery of the 5,300-year-old Ötzi on the Tiesenjoch in 1991 shows that the route from South Tyrol via Vent to the north was of great importance long ago. Today, as has been the case for hundreds of years, about 2,000-3,000 sheep are still led along this route to Vent. The so-called transhumance is an immaterial world cultural heritage of the UNESCO, as is the Ötztal dialect.
